HB 1 (Paid Sick Leave Act) is now Law in Maryland!

 

On January 12, 2018, the Maryland General Assembly overrode Governor Hogan's veto of the 2017 mandatory paid leave law, House Bill 1. Therefore, Maryland employers are now required to provide paid leave to employees. This law took effect on Sunday, February 11, 2018.

Governor Larry Hogan issued Executive Order 01.01.2018.04 creating the Office of Small Business Regulatory Assistance to assist small businesses in complying with House Bill 1 (HB1). Questions can be sent to this office at its dedicated email: small.business@maryland.gov
