Emergency Services Hosts Annual Lifesaver Marathon: Free CPR Training and Community Safety Event
The Talbot County Department of Emergency Services (DES) is excited to announce the return of the Lifesaver Marathon, a free, community-wide event dedicated to CPR training and lifesaving education. The event will take place on Friday, February 28, 2025, and offer hands-on training in CPR, Automated External Defibrillator (AED) use, and other critical emergency response skills.
“We want to stress to the community that this is a completely free event, and knowing CPR can truly make the difference between life and death,” said Madison Loker, Emergency Management Coordinator. “Whether at the grocery store, the park, or home, these skills can save lives. We encourage everyone to attend and get involved.”
Participants will have the opportunity to receive a Certificate of Completion (please note, this is not an official CPR certification), tour Talbot County Emergency Service’s Ambulance Bus, and interact with various community organizations offering outreach and educational opportunities. The Ambulance Bus, the only one on the Eastern Shore, can transport up to 12 patients at a time and will play a vital role in mass-casualty incidents.
In addition to training, the event will feature giveaways from local businesses. Every participant will receive a raffle ticket upon entry, with opportunities to earn more by engaging with outreach tables and training sessions.
“We’re ramping things up this year with exciting new additions like the Ambulance Bus tour and community raffle,” said Rachael Cox, event coordinator. “This event is all about empowering our community with lifesaving knowledge in a fun and engaging way.”
The Lifesaver Marathon is open to all—walk-ins are welcome, but pre-registration is encouraged to help with planning.
