Ribbon Cutting : Sail Selina II's Inclusion in the National Park Service Chesapeake Gateways Network
Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to Celebrate Iconic Vessel’s Inclusion in the network convened by the National Park Service
Sail Selina II, the beloved 1926 luxury sailing yacht and one of the Chesapeake Bay’s most iconic wooden vessels, will be formally welcomed into the Chesapeake Gateways Network, coordinated by the National Park Service (NPS Chesapeake Gateways), during a special ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the Harbour Inn Marina, 101 N Harbor Rd, St. Michaels, MD.
Hosted by Captain Iris Robertson, owner-operator of Sail Selina II, the event will feature remarks from Superintendent Wendy O’Sullivan of NPS Chesapeake Gateways, as well as local leaders from the Town of St. Michaels, Talbot County Office of Tourism, and the Talbot County Chamber of Commerce.
This milestone marks a new chapter in Sail Selina II’s 25-year legacy of offering eco-friendly sailing charters, historical interpretation, and intimate waterfront experiences. As a newly recognized Chesapeake Gateways Site, Sail Selina II will help connect travelers and locals alike to the stories, landscapes, and heritage of the nation’s largest estuary.
Following the ribbon cutting and remarks, guests will be invited aboard for dockside tours of the vessel, which has been lovingly maintained and operated out of St. Michaels since 2000.
A special bell ringing ceremony will close the event, honoring maritime tradition and symbolizing a new beginning
