Instrument and Controls Technician III Note: All communications with candidates will be kept strictly confidential
The Instrument and Controls Technician III will be responsible for the installation, programming, maintenance, and troubleshooting of instrumentation, control systems, and automation equipment within power plants, substations, and other electrical utility sites. The Instrument and Controls Technician III plays a key part in ensuring the reliability, accuracy, and efficiency of control systems critical to utility operations.
Salary: Starting at $75,462 – depending on experience

Essential Job Functions:
Perform troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs on electrical and control equipment, read and interpret electrical schematics, three-phase diagrams, wiring diagrams, and one-line diagrams
Utilize electrical tools such as digital multimeters, power supplies, and frequency generators for testing and calibration
Install, maintain, and repair single-phase and three-phase motors, motor control circuits, lighting circuits, and associated electrical equipment
Provide technical support during electrical outages, generator startups, and weather-related emergencies
Ensure compliance with NESC, NETA, and NFPA codes and safety regulations
Work with communication protocols (Modbus, etc.), PLC programming (Modicon, PLC5), and computer programming (C++) to optimize system performance
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications: Experience Level: Mid-Senior level Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate in applied science in electrical technology operations preferred
Minimum of 7 years of related electrical experience
Thorough knowledge of logic functions, computer programming, and all electrical equipment rated 72.5KV and below
Proven experience in the use of electrical tools and ability to install, troubleshoot, and repair associated electrical equipment
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills
Ability to work in various conditions, including confined spaces, heights, and outdoor environments
Must be available for emergency call-outs and overtime as needed
Ability to read electrical schematics, prints, and various diagrams
Valid driver's license required
Schedule: Four 10-hour days, 6:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
