For 14 years, the Talbot County Young Professionals (YPs) have participated in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program (TFT). With generous support of the community, the YPs collect toys and monies by placing TFT collection boxes in various drop locations, picking up the contributions, counting, sorting and delivering the donations to the local TFT distribution center.  Each year the Talbot County Young Professionals have been able to increase the amount of donations they collect. In 2016, the toy drive campaign was a huge success with over 2000 toys and $3740.41 collected for local Toys for Tots distribution.  The event was sponsored by chief sponsor, Fred Frederick Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, financially in-kind and with manpower. Other core sponsors include 1880 Bank, CBIZ MHM LLC, Star Democrat, Attraction Magazine, What's Up? Media, Pixel Print & Post and Staples.

Drop box sponsors include 1880 Bank (six branches), Aarons, Inc., Aqua Pools & Spas, Avon-Dixon Agency of Shore Bancshares, Inc., Bay Imprint, Bayleigh Chase, Ben Franklin Crafts & Framing Center, C. The mission of the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in the community in which the campaign is conducted. The objectives of Toys for Tots are to help less fortunate children throughout the United States experience the joy of Christmas; to play an active role in the development of one of our nation’s most valuable resources – our children; to unite all members of local communities in a common cause for three months each year during the annual toy collection and distribution campaign; and to contribute to better communities in the future.

The YPs will host the Annual Toys for Tots Luncheon on Wednesday December 13, noon-1:30 at the Tidewater Inn. This is a lovely event with Saints Peter & Paul School Choir, luncheon & desserts, inspiring talks, Santa, elves, and lots of door prizes donated by local businesses. Click here to register or call the Talbot Chamber at 410.822.4653.

In conjunction with their sponsor, Easton Premier Cinemas, free movie passes to a movie of your choice are being given away to anyone who donates a toy (minimum $10 value).  To receive a free movie pass, toys need to be taken to one of three locations, Easton Premier Cinemas, Talbot County Chamber of Commerce and Fred Frederick Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram.
